Turkish Delights Await Adventurous Travellers

One of the wonderful things about Turkey is the sheer diversity of things to see and do here. Blessed with sunshine for about seven months of the year, Kusadasi is a favourite holiday spot for most Europeans but most of all The Brits!.

Kusadasi Beach

Scattered amongst the fields and farmland, one can see the remains of ancient Turkey. Indeed, anyone who has ever gone swimming off the coast will be amazed to see temple ruins under water too. The crystal clear waters invite swimmers and snorkellers alike too but it is the derelict ruins that take people back when they come across them.

Ephesus city

Some of the sites to be seen here are places like Ephesus which has a history going back some five thousand years. It is a truly beautiful place and was a pilgrimage centre for Cybele, Artemis and finally the Virgin Mary. One has to wonder how the ancients managed to make buildings quite this beautiful as these without the benefit of the modern tools that we have today.

For something completely different, those who are visiting this area in December or January may want to take a look at the Selcuk Camel Wrestling Festival. This festival is set to occur round the time that the males are aiming for the females so this is not seen at any other time. The venue is nine miles away from Pamucak Beach but there are plenty of buses which go that way. Entrance fees are around three Euros.

Arrive early if a good view is needed and don’t forget to wrap up warm. Take along some drinks too so that there is no need to search for sustenance and also take an umbrella as it is likely to rain.

For anyone who is visiting Turkey, the trip could not be complete without the ubiquitous Turkish Bath. This has been described as a ‘sensual’ treat and is good for the skin since all the dead cells are sloughed off. This kind of service is not really seen anywhere else so take the opportunity while in the area.

Kusadasi Boat Trip

Also while in this area, why not take a boat trip in Kusadasi? There are many coves and inlets to explore en route and yachtsmen normally anchor up in a different spot every night. Indeed, the swimming is great too so for all those water lovers, this is a wonderful place for snorkellers and the like.

For scuba divers, there are many services on offer here but be aware that they do vary in quality. Some dives will be accompanied, while other sellers will hire out the equipment only. Licensed divers will need to prove their skills by bringing along their qualifications.

For those who just want to relax by the ocean, the sand is rather surprising as it is slightly darker than one normally sees. However, there are plenty of hotels with their own private beaches dotted all along the coast and standards vary depending on the quality that one needs. Service can also vary, but basically, the locals are friendly and welcoming and may just belly dance if asked nicely!

Pine Bay Resort

One good hotel that is gaining in popularity is the Pine Bay Holiday Resort in Kusadasi. Set next to the Aegean Sea, this complex has many things to offer. Accommodation is shared between guest rooms, which are up to international standards, and bungalows which have their own inimitable style. All the rooms have TV attached to a satellite service, air conditioning and mini bars.

After people have relaxed for a day or two they usually start looking around for some sport or other to get the adrenalin pumping. Here, there are sports of all kinds which should do just that. This resort has its own aqua park which will give the kids and parents too all the aquatic fun that they want. However, those who just want to slow down the pace a little will find this is possible by stretching out by the pool with a good book.

For those who want energetic things to do, most people opt to stay on site and have a go at step aerobics, take a Turkish bath, or just watch the entertainment which is provided daily. Indeed, the entertainment package is quiet diverse with a piano bar, amphitheater, a quiet pool bar – for those that do not like noise – and a disco on the beach. The entertainment team is vast and they all strive to ensure that everyone is having a good time.

Apart from the main restaurant, the resort also offers five buffet style restaurants around the complex. It also has five a la carte restaurants too where food is served in many styles from traditional Turkish food to Mexican dishes and Mediterranean delicacies as well.

This surely is a culinary dream, eating all this exotic food surrounded by the sound and sight of the ocean with images painted by local artists adorning the walls. The waiting staff is second to none and they will endeavour to fulfill the wishes of diners no matter what they request.

Around Kusadasi there are also many things to go and see. For those who can tear themselves away from all the fun, try a look at Ephesus, where the buildings date back five thousand years. Go swimming in the sea and look for ruins under water.

Boat trips up and down the coast are also a favourite amongst visitors and the boats normally provide an al fresco lunch either on board or on the beach in a private cove somewhere. Indeed, with the smell of the spices, the sight of the sea and the spectacular views from every angle, this place is a must for anyone who wants something just a little bit different.

The great thing about Turkey is that it holds some rather splendid sites to behold. From ancient ruins to the wonders of the sea, there is something for everyone to do here. There are also many levels of hotels here and there is bound to be one which fits into the right budget structure, so take a look at what is on offer online before making the all important decision.

Kusadasi Summer Holidays

Many holiday-makers plan their holidays for next year well in advance. There are various reasons for that :

  • There is still plenty of availability. You can shop around in peace, and then get your first choice of Kusadasi hotel or apartment. It’s the same for the flights. A lot of flights to Turkey are at night so some people like to secure the best flight times by booking early.
  • Many Turkey tour operators such as Thomson, First Choice and Thomas Cook are offering early booking discounts which can include cash discounts, no flight supplements, board upgrades, and even free child places. There can be other benefits like low deposit holidays.

Kusadasi is a particularly popular destination for holidays in the summer of 2012. The resort gets a lot of repeat guests happy with the good value for money both on the up-front holiday costs and once you arrive in the resort.

One strong trend for travel is that it’s cheapest to book your holidays online. You can either book a full “traditional” package with the likes of Thomson / Thomas Cook or go through a low cost travel agent. We found the cheapest holidays at Sunshine.co.uk
